Tom Meschery is an athlete, poet, teacher, and survivor. From an early age, Tom knew what it was like to be treated as an outsider. He is of Russian descent, born in Manchuria, raised shortly in an internment camp in Tokyo and finally immigrated to America. Eager to fit in, he desperately searched for ways to become more “American” and soon discovered that basketball provided this and much more.
