An original documentary that follows the mission work of The Hispaniola Medical Charity, focusing on health care access for Dominicans. The film follows the charity on their mission trip to Hispaniola (specifically the Dominican Republic.) There are thousands of people in need of surgeries and they have very limited access to the help they need- and this is just in the town of Puerto Plata. How can one group do sustainable, effective work without having unintended negative impacts? This charity is one example of thousands, and we are keen to find out the ins and outs of the best ways in which all humans can flourish in the name of “charity”.
An UptownWorksNYC production, directed by Mandie Black and Daniela Hart.
Cinematography by Anthony Ricciardi.
